More than three in five (61 per cent) homeowners are looking at releasing money from their home in later life, findings from the Equity Release Council have revealed.
The research, which surveyed 5,000 UK adults, found this had increased from 2021 when 57 per cent of people said the same. The council also found 39 per cent of people believe it is becoming more common and more acceptable to have a mortgage in later life.
As a whole of market, later life lending specialist, I believe it is important for all of the options for releasing equity to be explored. The industry has gone a long way over the last 12 months to bring innovation to the products being released and there are more options than ever before for borrowers over the age of 50.
